Defender unable to agree personal terms to join Zenit

Leonardo Bonucci's agent is not expecting the Juventus defender to join Zenit St Petersburg before the transfer window closes. The Italy international had been tipped to join Zenit, however, the Russian champions have been unable to agree personal terms. Bonucci, who joined Juve from Bari last summer and is under contract until 2014, is now likely to remain in Turin for at least the first half of the season. "The conditions for the negotiation were not there and even Juventus knows that," Bonucci's agent Davide Torchia told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I cannot exclude that something might happen before the transfer deadline at 7pm but as it is right now, the offer presented by the Russians does not match the player's value." Zenit are coached by former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti and have Bonucci's international team-mate Domenico Criscito on their books.
