Sevilla defender Sergio Sanchez has admitted to mixed feelings after being diagnosed with a heart condition.
The Spanish club announced last week that Sanchez would have to stop all physical activity whilst rigorous tests were carried out.
The news has raised question marks about Sanchez's footballing future and he concedes it is a devastating blow for his career.
However, the 23-year-old also knows that in one sense he is very fortunate that the condition was detected.
Improvements have been made in screening procedures for heart problems following the death of Espanyol defender Dani Jarque in August, two years after Sevilla midfielder Antonio Puerta collapsed during a game and later died after a prolonged cardiac arrest.
"I'm shattered and destroyed from a football point of view," Sanchez told Catalan television channel TV3. "But I have to look at the positives.
"Not playing is very hard for me. Fortunately I have a lot of people by my side and I know that I have to think positive.
"The families of Jarque and Puerta would pay to be in my situation. For that reason I have to stay positive and have to cheer up."
