Poland international goalkeeper could keep long hair

Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that he is going to keep his hair long in the same style as his compatriot Jan Tomaszewski if Poland are drawn against England in the Euro 2012 finals. Poland held the Three Lions to a 1-1 draw at Wembley in 1973 in a decisive 1974 World Cup qualifier that stopped England from progressing to the finals. Tomaszewski was the star of the show in London in what remains one of Poland's great results in international football, and Szczesny has promised to maintain a similar hairstyle if they are placed in the same group as Fabio Capello's side in the draw in Kiev on Friday. "I told the lads I'm going to grow long hair if we draw England," said the Poland international custodian on his club Arsenal's official website. "It would be fantastic. You might remember the goalkeeper who played against England in 1973. "You should all remember him. So I'll grow the long hair and try to do the job as well as he did. "I might have to wear a wig because there won't be enough time to grow it."

Relish

"This competition is massive because we are hosting it [with Ukraine]," added Szczesny. "The draw is big because we aren't the favourites and it will make a big impact on how we are going to do. I can't wait for it to start."
