Danish goal hero Michael Krohn-Dehli has savoured his side's win over the country where he plied his trade for several years.
The 29-year-old's first half goal was enough to hand Denmark a shock win over the much-fancied Dutch, and it was an especially sweet moment for the Brondby midfielder.
Krohn-Dehli left his homeland for Ajax in 2002, but the move did not pay off and after loan spells elsewhere in Holland he eventually returned to Denmark by re-joining his old club.
His goal brought about the first major shock at Euro 2012, and he revealed that his stint in the Netherlands gave him an extra advantage during the game.
"I saw the opening. I didn't flinch for a moment. I gave it a go and it paid off," he said.
Opportunity
"This result gives us hope. We are not obliged to have to win our next two games in order to progress to the last eight. We now have a great opportunity.
"This time in Holland wasn't always easy, but one thing it did do was that it hardened me.
"Above all it permitted me to learn Dutch. On Saturday, I understood everything that our opponents were saying on the pitch, so my time there wasn't wasted.
"I played six years in Holland, at Ajax, Waalwijk and Sparta Rotterdam. This victory is very personal for me, even more so that my girlfriend is Dutch."
