Jamie Redknapp says West Ham need to put in the same performance every week as they did against Chelsea

West Ham now have to perform every week after beating Chelsea, says Jamie Redknapp, with Marko Arnautovic praised for his winning contribution.

It was the striker's sixth-minute goal that saw David Moyes win his first game in charge of the Hammers and lifted them further up the table, although they do remain in the relegation spots on goal difference.

Following a much-improved display at the London Stadium, Sky Sports pundit Redknapp set West Ham the task of producing the same level of performance on a consistent basis, especially with the squad they have.

"The problem they have now, although it's not a problem as such, is that they have set such a high standard today and I think 'how can you be in this position when you can play like that?'," he said on Premier League Live.

West Ham 1-0 Chelsea

"It isn't good enough for me, they should be playing like this week in, week out. When you have a bench with people like Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho, it is a bench that teams at the bottom of the league would love to have.

"Now they have to adhere to this every week because some of the performances haven't been good enough. To be on 10 points before today with that group of players and performing like that against Chelsea, they have to do this week in, week out.

We pick out the key discussion points from West Ham's shock win over Chelsea.

"It's no good turning it on against teams like Tottenham and Chelsea, they need to try and do it against teams where it maybe isn't as exciting and they have to get the crowd going.

"It's no good doing it every now and again because they can still be drawn into a relegation fight, but they've shown today that they have got the players to get out of this problem. They've got more than good enough players."

Goalscorer Arnautovic also came in for praise after netting his first West Ham strike since moving to the club in the summer, with West Ham defender Jose Fonte - who joined the Premier League Live panel for the game - pleased for his teammate.

"It's well known that Marko has been under criticism of late but I've seen the change in his attitude, how he's been working, how he wants to fit in, be part of the team and please the fans and everyone in the club," he said.

"I'm delighted for him, he's a great guy to have in the dressing room and he has a lot of talent so he can be massive for us. Today he got the winner and hopefully this can continue for a longer period of time."

Former West Ham midfielder Joe Cole was also complimentary of Arnautovic's work rate on the field, and believes he is now matching the expectations of the fans.

"I think what happens with players as talented as him, they come here with no disrespect to Stoke, but maybe his talent alone could have got him by there with some great performances," he said on Premier League Live.

"But West Ham fans demand that he not only plays like he did today, but he shows the work rate and the desire. It took him a month or two to adjust but you can't doubt his quality, we've seen it in the Premier League for years.

"He's a top player and I've seen a change him just over the last three or four games, he's working so hard."
