Curtis Nelson's late equaliser kept leaders Plymouth two points clear at the top of Sky Bet League 2 following a 1-1 home draw against Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening.

Plymouth looked to be heading for back-to-back home defeats after losing to Devon rivals Exeter on Saturday, but defender Nelson pounced on a rebound to slam home in the 81st minute.

Jay Simpson had fired home his 14th goal of the season in the fourth minute to give Orient a half-time lead before being forced off injured.

Highlights from the Sky Bet League 2 fixture between Oxford and Newport.

Oxford also dropped two points at home but stay second thanks to substitute striker Patrick Hoban's 72nd-minute equaliser in a 1-1 home draw against Newport, who had led at half-time through Lenell John-Lewis.

Northampton moved level on points with Oxford after securing a third straight league win, beating Crawley 2-1 despite having defender Brendan Moloney sent off.

Joel Byram slammed home a rebound after Crawley goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan had saved Marc Richards' sixth-minute penalty, awarded for Lewis Young's foul on Lawson D'Ath.

John-Joe O'Toole curled home a 20th-minute second for the Cobblers, while Simon Walton converted a 61st-minute penalty for Crawley after Moloney's challenge on Rhys Murphy, for which he was shown a straight red card.

Highlights of the Sky Bet League 2 fixture between Portsmouth and York.

Accrington's home game against Hartlepool was postponed due to heavy rain and Portsmouth climbed above them into fourth spot as Marc McNulty fired a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of 10-man York.

York midfielder Jonathan Greening was shown a straight red card for his tackle on Michael Doyle at the end of a goalless first period before Portsmouth struck three times in 10 second-half minutes.

Ben Davies (50) opened the scoring and McNulty struck in the 52nd, 60th and 71st minutes. Ben Tollitt and Conor Chaplin were also on target.
