Can-can dancers, David Guetta and the France Air Force teamed up to get Euro 2016 off to a rousing start at the Stade de France on Friday night.

The opening ceremony took place before France defeated Romania 2-1 in the tournament opener and the hosts packed plenty into the 15-minute extravaganza.

The Stade de France pitch was laid out in the manner of a French garden and over a hundred can-can dancers were soon performing.

Proceedings obviously had a French flavour and further dancing took place to the accompaniment of the Edith Piaf classic 'La Vie En Rose'.

French superstar DJ David Guetta then emerged at the middle of the pitch and got the crowd dancing along with the performers as he played 'I Gotta Feeling' by The Black Eyed Peas, plus his own hit 'Titanium'.

And Swedish singer-songwriter Zara Larsson, who has collaborated with Guetta, then joined the singer on stage to bring events to a climax.
