Euro 2016 play-offs: Five players to watch on Sky Sports

Ukraine's Andriy Yarmolenko: one to watch

England have guaranteed qualification from Group E, but eight nations will be battling to secure their passage to Euro 2016 in the play-offs this week.

The action gets underway on Thursday, with a host of crucial games to be shown live across Sky Sports.

From a target of Premier League clubs to Roma's star playmaker, here are five potential difference-makers to look out for...

Andriy Yarmolenko (Ukraine)

Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko has long been linked with a move to the Premier League but has thus far remained as the key man for Dynamo Kiev.

It is much the same on the international front with Yarmolenko where he boasts an impressive record of 20 goals in 52 appearances for his country, including four in 10 during qualifying for Euro 2016.

His ability to cut in from the right and shoot with his rocket of a left foot is something that Ukraine's play-off opponents Slovenia will have to be wary of over the two legs.

Yarmolenko has been in reasonable form for Dynamo Kiev in recent games, scoring in their Champions League win at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and has also found the net on four occasions in the league this term.

Viktor Fischer, the 21-year-old Denmark forward, made his international debut at just 18, but has pushed on this season with Dutch side Ajax, scoring eight goals in 17 appearances for the club, 11 of which were from the bench.

The youngster scored his first for Denmark in the summer against Montenegro after his club and international career was halted by a series of hamstring injuries last season, and the play-off clash with Sweden offers Morten Olsen a chance to throw Fischer into the mix alongside Nicklas Bendtner.

Linked with Arsenal by Italian media last month, Fischer can play on either flank or as a centre forward, and had trials at Manchester City, Chelsea and Inter Milan at youth level, having scored 20 goals in 30 caps for Denmark's Under-17 side.

If Denmark qualify, the timing of Euro 2016 could be perfect for Fischer, as he looks to prove he has shaken off his injury problems over the 2015/16 campaign.

Bosnia international Miralem Pjanic has been in inspired form for Roma this season, managing seven goals in 13 appearances in all competitions so far.

The 25-year-old has helped fire his side to third in Serie A with five goals, five assists and a series of influential performances in 10 league appearances.

Playing in an advanced midfield role behind international team-mate Edin Dzeko, he has also netted twice in Roma's Champions League campaign. The Italian side currently sit second in Group E behind Barcelona with two games left to play.

Pjanic has scored nine times in 63 caps for Bosnia, but hasn't found the back of the net at international level since the World Cup last summer, when he scored in a 3-1 group stage win over Iran.

It is a run he will be hoping to bring to an end in the play-offs against Republic of Ireland as Bosnia seek to make it to their second consecutive major tournament.

Alex Tettey (Norway)

Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey was a mainstay in the Norway engine room throughout their Group H campaign.

Despite not being known as a consistent scorer, Tettey fired home three goals as his country pushed the automatic qualifiers Italy and Croatia all the way, ending the standings just one point behind the second-placed Croats.

Tettey, who has played in every game this season for Norwich City in the Premier League, followed up his effort in a 2-0 win over Malta with a 23rd minute opener against group winners Italy in Rome, although Norway eventually went down 2-1.

Norway take on Hungary in the play-offs, with the first leg in Oslo on November 12 and the return leg in Budapest three days later. The Norwegians have not lost to Hungary since 1981 and will be a tough nut to crack with Tettey's all-action style of play likely to dominate the midfield.

Emir Kujovic (Sweden)

Emir Kujovic received his first call-up to the national team after finishing as the highest goalscorer in Sweden's top flight last week.

The Yugoslavian-born striker struck 21 league goals to lead IFK Norrkoping to an unlikely Allsvenskan league title for the first time since 1989.

The 6ft 4in target man has four Under-21 caps, and Sweden coach Erik Hamren has spoken of the 27-year-old's "maturity", while also admitting he is "excited" to see his new addition.

Kujovic is known for his power, strength and shooting ability, and could provide much-needed firepower to a squad that are heavily dependent on captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who netted eight of Sweden's 15 goals in qualification.

With Sweden rotating between former Manchester City striker John Guidetti, Sunderland's Ola Toivonen and Marcus Berg of Panathinaikos during qualifying, Kujovic looks to be next in line to try and forge a working partnership with Ibrahimovic up front.

The Euro 2016 play-offs kick off on Thursday with Norway v Hungary at 7.40pm on Sky Sports 3 HD, or watch without a contract on NOW TV.
