Leyton Orient's stay in a hotel this week was rewarded with a 3-2 home victory over York City in Sky Bet League 2.
Orient's owner Francesco Becchetti ordered the team coach to head straight for the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey following their 2-1 defeat at Hartlepool on Sunday, which meant they had won just twice in 12 matches.
However, they returned to winning ways as they inflicted a fourth successive defeat on the struggling Minstermen since new manager Jackie McNamara took charge earlier this month.
Mathieu Baudry put Orient ahead in the 21st minute with an unchallenged header and Jay Simpson added a second in the second minute of first-half injury-time.
There was still time for Vadaine Oliver to pull a goal back for York before the interval - as a shot from Vadaine Oliver was deflected - but Simpson's second goal in the 64th minute secured a welcome win for Ian Hendon's side, although Oliver's 86th-minute header for City ensured a nervy finale.
Leaders Plymouth saw their advantage at the top reduced to only two points following a 2-1 home defeat to Devon rivals Exeter.
Ryan Harley netted twice in the first half for the Grecians, a 30th-minute penalty after Kelvin Mellor's foul on David Wheeler and a fine individual strike in the 39th minute.
Oscar Threlkeld gave Argyle hope when he netted in the 61st minute but Exeter held firm to claim the three points.
Second-placed Oxford United closed the gap on Plymouth thanks to a 1-0 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge courtesy of Kemar Roofe's 85th-minute goal.
Northampton, despite their financial problems, made it five wins out of six by beating Notts County 2-1 at Meadow Lane to remain in third place and now just four points off top spot.
Rod McDonald's 31st-minute header put the Cobblers in front but the Magpies replied through Jon Stead in the 52nd minute.
However, Brendon Moloney bagged a 76th-minute winner for the visitors when he drilled home a left-footed shot from the centre of the area.
Danny Grainger's double, including a stoppage-time equaliser, earned Carlisle a 2-2 home draw against Portsmouth.
Grainger picked himself up to convert a 44th-minute penalty after he was fouled by Christian Burgess to give Carlisle a half-time lead.
Portsmouth hit back after the break through Caolan Lavery (66) and on-loan Sheffield United striker Marc McNulty two minutes later but Grainger struck in the fourth minute of time added on.
Accrington moved above Pompey into fourth place after they twice came from behind to win 3-2 at Cambridge.
Barry Corr fired his ninth goal of the season to give Cambridge a 13th-minute lead and after Sean McConville equalised for Accrington, Luke Berry restored the home side's lead before the break.
Accrington levelled for a second time through Tom Davies early in the second half and Josh Windass steered home a 53rd-minute penalty after Leon Legge's foul on Billy Kee.
Matt Green's double helped Mansfield to a 3-1 home win against Hartlepool.
Green converted in the 24th minute and after Hartlepool got back on level terms before half-time courtesy of Krystian Pearce's own goal, Adi Yussuf restored Mansfield's lead and Green struck his second in the 81st minute.
Rhys Weston struck twice in 66 seconds as Crawley beat Bristol Rovers 2-1, putting his side two-up in the 10th minute. Matty Taylor converted a late penalty for the visitors.
Adebayo Azeez grabbed an injury-time equaliser to clinch AFC Wimbledon a 1-1 home draw against Wycombe, for whom Jason McCarthy scored early in the second half.
Luton striker Paul Benson was shown a straight red card for his foul on Tom Conlon as his side were held 0-0 at Stevenage, Barnet's home game against Morecambe also ended goalless and Newport drew 0-0 against visitors Yeovil, who remain in the bottom two alongside Dagenham & Redbridge.
