Niall Quinn thinks Jose Mourinho will bring "rock and roll" entertainment to Manchester United.

With Louis van Gaal reportedly sacked by the club on Monday, Mourinho looks poised to become the next Manchester United manager.

In previous spells with Chelsea and Real Madrid, Mourinho has not shied away from controversy, with his most recent time in charge at Stamford Bridge featuring a row with club doctor Eva Carneiro and accusations of 'betrayal' against his own players.

Niall Quinn believes Jose Mourinho is the right man to replace Louis van Gaal

But former Manchester City forward Quinn told Sky Sports that Mourinho will provide "great entertainment" at Old Trafford.

"There are two ways of looking at it: from a football point of view and the other from the commercial," Quinn said. "I think it's rock 'n' roll from a commercial point of view. It will catapult Man United back onto the front stage. They have been quiet for the last few years.

Matt Le Tissier says Jose Mourinho is being brought to Manchester United to win trophies with developing young players a secondary focus

"From a football decision there is always a doubt about a new manager no matter who it is. This is at the very top and one of the people who has done it for years.

"But he has to go and do it all again. The past is forgotten about and if he thinks he has been in goldfish bowls before he is really going to be in one now. Will he do it? It's not simple."

Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United are making the right choice in appointing former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

"At the moment he is the one that is available and with Pep going across the city at Man City they needed something like this to compete," he said.

"Perhaps he is not the right man for getting young players through into the side, but with Jose it's all about winning trophies. It doesn't matter who the personnel is. If he produces trophies for them it won't matter who the players are."
