Cambridge have completed the loan signing of Oxford defender Cameron Gayle.
The 23-year-old has signed until January and will join Shaun Derry's side ahead of Tuesday evening's Sky Bet League 2 fixture against Morecambe.
Derry told the club's official website: "Cameron is another loan signing who will add healthy competition to our side, particularly in the full-back positions.
"It is important that every player we bring to this club on loan makes us better, and can help us with our progression.
"I'm sure Cameron is capable of doing that, as he is a dynamic player who likes to get forward. He was part of a successful squad last season at Shrewsbury, and has settled in well at Oxford so is therefore trusted at one of the best clubs in this league."
The right-back started his career at West Brom in 2012 and made his Football League debut at Shrewsbury before signing a permanent deal with the club.
Gayle's contract with the Shrews was cancelled by mutual consent in June despite having one year left when the club were promoted to League One.
He joined Oxford in earlier this month, initially on a one-month deal and made his debut in the FA Cup against Braintree, but is hoping to get more match time with Cambridge.
