David Alaba will have no issue continuing his impressive club form into Euro 2016 for Austria, according to team-mate Marko Arnautovic.

The Bayern Munich star is the stand-out name in the Austrian squad after another excellent season with the Bundesliga champions and Arnautovic has backed his compatriot to lead by example in just the country's second appearance in the tournament.

Austria kick off their campaign against Group F opponents Hungary on Tuesday and Arnautovic believes Alaba's experience at the highest level will be crucial to his side's success.

"David has a lot of experience with Bayern Munich in major competitions," Arnautovic told the UEFA website.

"He played at such a high level throughout the season and I hope he can perform at the same standard for us.

"He plays an important role in midfield, particularly because he brings a lot of experience to the table.

"We hope he continues to perform as well for the national team this summer as he has in qualification and throughout the season as a whole.

Austria's last appearance at the tournament was in 2008 as co-hosts of the competition, but they failed to make it out of the group stage.

However, the Austrians enter this tournament with an almost perfect record in qualifying after nine wins and one draw and Arnautovic believes head coach, Marcel Koller, deserves a lot of credit for their form.

"The coach places a lot of importance on discipline, attention to detail and focus," said Arnautovic.

"Over the years he has drummed that into us and that has really stuck. What he asks us to do in team meetings we put into practice on the pitch, and that's what sets him apart.

"He also has other very good qualities, such as his attention to detail when preparing us for the opposition and with our tactical set-up."
