Midfielder Chris Erskine said: "You saw a couple of weeks ago against Rangers that we were 1-0 up with about five minutes to go and we end up losing the game. These things shouldn't happen.

"It's not all down to bad luck, it's down to the players as well and managing the games as best as you can."

This is the first meeting between the sides this season; the fixture scheduled for August 13 was postponed because of Celtic's involvement in the International Champions Cup.

Winger James Forrest will not feature for the Premiership pace-setters.

The Scotland international went off with a tight hamstring during the Champions League draw with Manchester City on Tuesday.

His absence could hand Gary Mackay-Steven his first start of the season with Scott Sinclair sitting out his fourth game through a hamstring problem of his own.

Kieran Tierney (ankle) is also still out.

Celtic have won the last 16 meetings between the two sides, with Thistle's last success coming courtesy of a George Shaw goal in a 1-0 win at Firhill in January 1994.
