Stockport v Cheltenham preview

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Stockport County and Cheltenham Town at Edgeley Park.

Stockport caretaker boss Ray Mathias will be without striker Matt Paterson. The Southend forward is currently injured and has missed County's last three games but has now returned to his parent club. James Vincent will miss out through injury but Paul Turnbull will return to the squad. Mathias wants to lead the club straight back into the Football League if he is handed the reins on a permanent basis. Mathias joined the club in January but the club have received applications from several other potential candidates. Mathias said: "It's going to be a long season next year, but, given the chance, I will give it my best shot at bringing us straight back up." Cheltenham manager Mark Yates may be mulling over minor changes to his starting XI but he insists whatever team he names will go out determined to secure all three points. With Town definitely now safe from relegation, Yates is weighing up a number of factors as he looks to select his side for the Edgeley Park clash. The Robins boss is also set to reveal more about the close season's comings and goings at the start of next week. "We could quite possibly give one or two of the other players a game on Saturday but we will pick the strongest team we can to win the game," Yates told the club's official website. "There are a few factors to take into account like whether we are sentimental and give a few players a game because they won't be here next season or whether there are one or two I'd like to take a closer look at for next season. "Some of the lads like Daniel Lloyd-Weston and Kyle Haynes deserve a game but whether they get it we will have to see. Scott Brown has played in every game this season so that will be a tough decision but, whoever I play, I want the same attitude that we had up at Lincoln. "I'm not going to give anything away but the players will be prepared fully for this game."
