Torquay v Crewe preview

Image: Branston: Should keep his place

Team news ahead of Tuesday night's League Two clash between Torquay United and Crewe Alexandra at Plainmoor.

Torquay manager Paul Buckle has a fully-fit squad to choose from. The Gulls recorded an impressive 1-0 win over Carlisle in the FA Cup third-round on Saturday and Buckle could stick with the same team. Defender Guy Branston made an unexpected return to the back four against the Cumbrians following his quick recovery from a hamstring complaint and after coming through the game unscathed he should keep his place. Danny Stevens also came in to replace on-loan Wolves man Ashley Hemmings on the wing in the only other change from the 4-3 defeat by Oxford, and after setting up the only goal for Eunan O'Kane he could again get the nod. Crewe midfielder Ashley Westwood is expected to be fit. Westwood limped off during the home victory over Wycombe on Saturday and was replaced by fellow academy product Danny Shelley. However, the signs are that he has recovered from the knock, giving boss Dario Gradi the chance to name an unchanged side at Plainmoor. "I think Ash is fine so we could go same again. But I will ask if anyone feels washed out because they have played a lot of games recently," said Gradi. "I wouldn't mind the opportunity to pick the likes of Danny Shelley, but I just can't find a place for him in the team at the moment." Winger Byron Moore came through the Wycombe win unscathed following a recent knock, while last season's top scorer Calvin Zola was named on the bench for the first time since November and could be involved once more.
