Torquay v Morecambe preview

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Torquay United and Morecambe at Plainmoor.

Torquay's head of youth Geoff Harrop will take charge of the Gulls as they begin life without Alan Knill against Morecambe. Knill's contract was terminated on Thursday lunchtime after they lost derby clashes against Exeter and Plymouth to leave them in 23rd place in League Two. And Harrop has a number of options as Torquay look to get back to winning ways, including strikers Jayden Stockley and Elliot Benyon, while Blackburn defender Anthony O'Connor will start having extended his loan stay until the end of the season. The Gulls look set to remain without striker John Marquis, who has returned to Millwall for treatment to a groin injury. Jack Redshaw and Padraig Amond are expected to return to Morecambe's starting XI for the trip to Torquay. Boss Jim Bentley elected to leave the diminutive strike duo on the bench in favour of a more physical line-up to face York on New Year's Day but was left disappointed following a 1-0 defeat. Bentley confirmed Redshaw, who missed the early stages of the campaign with a hip injury, will definitely come back in while this season's top scorer Amond has been a virtual ever present. Others who may come back into the fray are defender Robbie Threlfall and midfielder Alex Kenyon with Bentley admitting he had also rested those two at Bootham Crescent because of the hectic festive period. The Shrimps do have a depleted squad, though, with midfielders Andy Wright (groin), Ryan Williams and Marcus Marshall (both hamstring) all expected to miss out again.
