Brentford can leapfrog Walsall in the League One table if they pick up a win at the Banks's Stadium.

Bees look to sting Saddlers in league clash

Brentford can leapfrog Walsall in the League One table if they pick up a win at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday. Both sides are currently in the top half and if they can come into form between now and the end of the season, they could launch a late play-off push. Chris Hutchings will have to make at least one change to the Walsall side which secured a memorable victory at Leeds in midweek. Winger Peter Till hobbled off with a hamstring injury as United suffered their first league defeat at Elland Road in over a year and he will miss out against the Bees. Striker Darren Byfield missed the clash due to a virus but he is now back in training although unlikely to replace Alex Nicholls in the starting XI. Forward Steve Jones (groin) managed 35 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday afternoon after a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Hutchings will have to decide whether or not he is ready for first-team involvement. Defender Rhys Weston (hamstring) and striker Sam Parkin (groin) both remain on the sidelines.

Brentford news

Marcus Bean could return to the Brentford squad for the trip. The midfielder missed last weekend's 1-1 draw against Wycombe with a knee injury but he has had a cortisone injection and will be available if he suffers no reaction. Left-back Ryan Dickson had to come off against Wycombe with a knee problem and will be checked over with Sam Wood on standby to deputise. Winger Lionel Ainsworth is pushing to make his full debut since joining on loan from Huddersfield, having made two substitute appearances. Ainsworth came on at half-time on Saturday and could replace Sam Saunders in the starting line-up. Goalkeeper Nikki Bull (shoulder) is still missing while out-of-favour defender Alan Bennett this week joined Wycombe on loan.
