Burton's new signing Marvin Sordell is hoping to make his debut in the home game against Preston.

Striker Sordell joined the Brewers from Coventry on New Year's Day, initially until June, and is available to boss Nigel Clough.

Defender Ben Turner, who has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury, plus on-loan pair Hamza Choudhury (knee) and Will Miller (hamstring), will be monitored.

Striker Jamie Ward is hoping to shake off the knock which restricted him to an unused substitute's role in Thursday's win at Rotherham.

Preston could have former Dundalk pair Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle in their ranks.

The duo's move to North End was completed on New Year's Day and Simon Grayson may put them in the squad provided they are granted international clearance in time.

Tom Barkhuizen has also joined the club and the former Blackpool trainee could make the matchday 18, with Grayson eyeing changes having given recent injury absentees Paul Gallagher and Aiden McGeady 90 and 89 minutes respectively against Sheffield Wednesday on New Year's Eve.
