Leeds fought back from a goal down to beat Cambridge 2-1 in the third round of the FA Cup at the Abbey Stadium.

Uche Ikpeazu gave the hosts the lead with a fine finish on 25 minutes, turning inside the area and firing off the near post from 12 yards.

Leeds took a while to get going, but Stuart Dallas equalised 11 minutes into the second half, heading home Alex Mowatt's superb cross from the left wing.

Mowatt turned scorer on 64 minutes, helping on Pontus Jansson's header from a corner into the net to complete the turnaround.

Leeds have now been rewarded with a trip to either Sutton United or AFC Wimbledon, with the fourth round taking place between January 27-30.

Garry Monk' made eight changes from the side that beat Rotherham in the Championship, and the new-look XI started slowest at the Abbey Stadium.

Ikpeazu forced Marco Silvestri into a good save from an angle after some poor defending by Liam Cooper, before Ikpeazu gave Cambridge the lead, turning two defenders in the area and finding the near post past Silvestri with a fine finish as the ball came out to him from a blocked free-kick.

Will Norris in the Cambridge goal made a good save from Mowatt's long-range effort before the break, and then saved well again with his feet as Cooper rose highest from a corner.

Silvestri tipped over Piero Mingoia's hooked effort from a corner after the break, before Leeds got the equaliser their second-half possession had warranted.

Latching onto Mowatt's superb, deep cross, Dallas headed the ball back where it came from and into the far corner of the net, his first goal of the season.

Leeds pushed forward, and it was 2-1 just eight minutes later through man-of-the-match Mowatt, who found himself under the crossbar to flick on Jansson's header from a corner.

Cambridge huffed and puffed to find a leveller, but Mengoia's pot-shot from range, fumbled by Silvestri before Leeds cleared, was the closest they came as the visitors held on.
