Inter Milan appear likely to beat Leicester to the signing of Sampdoria striker Eder, Sky sources understand.

The Premier League leaders had tabled a £10m bid for the Italy international, with a three-year contract worth around £29,000-per-week offered to the player.

However, Inter now appear to have entered the race to sign the 29-year-old with the Serie A side understood to have put together a deal that would involve a cash deal supplemented by defender Andrea Ranocchia moving to Sampdoria on loan.

Representatives of Eder flew to England on Tuesday to listen to Leicester's proposal, but it seems the player wants to stay in Italy to have a better chance of playing for his international team at Euro 2016 in the summer.

Eder, who has scored two goals in eight international appearances, has netted 40 times in Serie A since moving to Genoa from Empoli in 2012.

If Leicester could persuade Eder his future lies at the King Power Stadium, he would become the club's third signing of the January transfer window.
