Frank Lampard scored his fourth goal in five games for New York City FC as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Sporting KC on Sunday.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder - who turned 38 in the middle of his current run - showed why he takes regular plaudits as one of the Premier League's best ever midfielders and can still do the business.
He has previously scored in last weekend's win against New England Revoliton, with June goals against Philadelphia Union and the Seattle Sounders rounding off the impressive recent run.
Another of world football's most talented middle men Andrea Pirlo was the man to set off the move at Children's Mercy Park, passing down the left wing to Ronald Matarrita as Lampard surged into the box.
The Costa Rican winger then knocked the ball into the box for his teammate, and Lampard coolly tapped it home past Sporting KC stopper Tim Melia.
The goal saw his side level after an eighth minute strike from Benny Feilhaber put the hosts ahead, but New York fell behind again two minutes later after Jimmy Medranda's first ever MLS goal.
Ike Opara then added Sporting KC's third six minutes into the second half to seal the win and see the side go five games unbeaten.
