Raith Rovers manager Gary Locke is hoping to bring Hearts legend Rudi Skacel back to Scottish football.

Skacel and Locke worked together at Tynecastle and combined to devastating effect as Hearts swept to Scottish Cup glory with a 5-1 win over Hibernian at Hampden Park in 2012.

The former Czech Republic international will join up with Rovers for the continuation of their pre-season training, and Locke is optimistic he can lure the 36-year-old to Fife.

He told the Rovers website: "Rudi is a fantastic professional. He is very fit naturally, and once he gains his sharpness, I hope we can persuade him to sign for the club because he will be a first-class role model for the whole squad.

"I am delighted he has agreed to link up with us, and I am certain his presence will create a real buzz as the season gets underway. He knows how to score goals, and to create chances for others so he could be a key player for us in the months ahead."
