Clint Hill accepts that Rangers fans fully expect the team to challenge for honours this season, even though they are only returning to the top flight of Scottish football for the first time in five years.

The 37-year-old moved to Ibrox on a free transfer during the summer and has, so far, featured in four of their six competitive matches.

This included their Scottish Premiership opener against Hamilton on Saturday which ended 1-1.

Hill scored twice in the club's Scottish League Cup success over Peterhead on Tuesday, three days after making his Scottish Premiership debut alongside former QPR team-mates Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar.

The Light Blues travel to Dundee this Saturday, and the defender is fully aware of the pressure facing the Rangers squad on a weekly basis: "Last weekend was an eye-opener in terms of expectation levels.

"Even just walking out of the tunnel, you know what's expected of you.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't finish Hamilton off and get the three points so Tuesday night was a positive in terms of coming out, getting on the ball and taking our chances, which is the most important thing.

"If we'd taken our chances on Saturday, then we'd have come away with three points. It was a disappointing result and the fans let us know. We're at Rangers and you don't want to drop points a home.

"We responded against Peterhead, having made a few changes. It gives us a good springboard ahead of a difficult game on Saturday."
