Efe Ambrose says his proposed Deadline Day move from Celtic to Blackburn is an opportunity for him to restart his career

Blackburn Rovers are still awaiting approval from the relevant authorities as to whether their attempt to bring in Celtic defender Efe Ambrose on loan has been successful.

Ambrose has been struggling for game time under the Brendan Rodgers regime in Glasgow and has made just two appearances this season - both in Champions League qualifiers in July.

Rovers, who already have Ambrose's former Celtic team-mates Anthony Stokes and Charlie Mulgrew on their books, were frustrated in their quest to get the deal for the 28-year-old Nigeria international ratified before the Tuesday night deadline.

The paperwork will now be assessed at the Football and Scottish League offices in Preston and Glasgow respectively to check that all is in order, including work permit issues, with a final decision expected later in the week.

Ambrose has won four Scottish league titles during his five years at Celtic, making over 150 appearances.
