Burnley’s record signing Andre Gray says he took advice from his former manager Mark Warburton before leaving Brentford for Turf Moor.
Striker Gray signed for the Clarets on Friday for an initial fee of £6m, having scored 20 goals in 52 appearances for the Bees.
The 24-year-old, who was also a target for Bristol City, told Sky Sports News HQ it was difficult dealing with all the speculation ahead of his move.
"I've never been in that situation before so it's quite hard to deal with at times," he said. "It's sorted now and I want to kick on.
"I was always happy to play for Brentford. I've got a great relationship with the boys there and I got on well with the new manager as well, so it was a bit difficult as I obviously wanted to give 100 per cent to them.
"I've still got a good relationship with the previous manager Mark Warburton and David Weir and sitting down speaking with my agent and then getting a second opinion off them two, the fact that this was definitely the right place for me to be."
Gray said he still has a long way to go before he is the finished article.
"That was a massive part of it, to come here and learn and get even better after all the speculation," he said. "I just want to put that shirt on now and get on the pitch."
