Championship round-up: Hull remain top after win over Middlesbrough

Hull defeated fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough 3-0 to retain their place at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.

Mohamed Diame gave Steve Bruce's side the lead a minute before half-time before Sam Clucas and Tom Huddlestone added further goals after the break to seal the win.

Brighton leapfrogged Burnley into second spot and are level on 34 points with Hull after they defeated MK Dons 2-1 at the AMEX Stadium, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Brett Pitman and Jonathan Douglas had earlier put Mick McCarthy's side 2-0 up, with Rotherham briefly threatening an unlikely comeback with quickfire goals from Brandon Barker and Matt Derbyshire just before the hour, before Murphy came to the fore.

Cardiff climbed above Reading into seventh place with a 2-0 win, Kenwyne Jones and Matthew Connolly on the mark with headers.
