The Arsenal defender was adjudged to have been the last man by referee Mark Clattenburg after bringing down Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
The incident left the Super Sunday pundits split with Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry agreeing with the decision, while Graeme Souness thought it was harsh.
