Euro Papers: Timo Werner plays down Liverpool interest

There may be a third of the season still to play - but according to the international media, teams across Europe are already planning their summer spending sprees.

Our friends at Football Whispers have trawled the European press to pick out the biggest news and the most interesting transfer rumours doing the rounds on the continent.

Here's what they found in Sunday's morning's press...

GERMANY

Timo Werner has played down claims he is set to leave RB Leipzig after recent reports suggested he had caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The striker, who has found the back of the net on 14 occasions so far this season, had this to say in an interview with the World on Sunday: "I want to grow together with the club and develop myself. I'm only 21 and I'm sure I'll be playing for some seasons,".

Inter Milan look set to sign Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas in the summer but their raid on the Giallorossi may not be limited to just the one player. They have also shown an interest in Kevin Strootman as well as rumoured long-term Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan. The San Siro club had representatives at the Stadio Olimpico for Roma's Europa League match against Lyon on Thursday.

Real Madrid walked away from the Estadio San Mames with all three points after defeating Athletic Bilbao 2-1. However, post-match talk yet again centred around Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to being substituted. Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane decided to replace the Portuguese attacker with 10 minutes still to play and the former Manchester United man was caught on camera expressing his displeasure.

Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has denied reports linking him to the Barcelona job next season. Luis Enrique has confirmed he's stepping down as manager of the Catalan club and Sampaoli is believed to be one of the favourites to replace him, but the Argentine has now distanced himself from these rumours.

Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta has turned down two offers from the Chinese Super League, one of which was an astonishing 35m euros after tax contract. His current deal at the Nou Camp expires in 2018 and the midfield maestro is yet to decide on if he is going to renew.

PORTUGAL

Manchester City have been in contact with Benfica over the Portuguese club's 23-year-old goalkeeper Ederson. City manager Pep Guardiola is once again in the market for a 'keeper with summer signing Claudio Bravo failing to impress and ultimately losing his place to number two Willy Caballero. Ederson, a one-time target for Arsenal, has a £43m release clause in his contract.

O JOGO

Juventus and AC Milan have joined the race to sign Benfica's 23-year-old right-back Nelson Semedo, who is also a summer transfer target for Chelsea and Manchester United. The Portuguese club reportedly value the full-back at around the £35million mark and are notoriously difficult to negotiate with.
