Tim Howard's 13 years in English football could be about to end with Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids reportedly holding talks with the goalkeeper.
It has been reported in the United States that Howard, who is currently in his 10th season with Everton after three years at Manchester United, has been in negotiations over a transfer.
Everton have denied talks have reached an advanced stage and would need to act quickly to sign a replacement for the 36-year-old United States international should he join Colorado in time for the MLS season, which begins in March.
It is understood it is more likely the deal will be completed in May.
Howard, a New Jersey native, made his name in MLS for the MetroStars from 1999-2003 before his switch to Manchester United.
Spanish goalkeeper Joel Robles has played in all six of Everton's cup games this season but Howard has been the club's first choice in the Premier League.
