Thomas Tuchel rules himself out of Southampton job

Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has ruled himself out of the vacant manager's job at Southampton, according to Sky sources.

The 43-year old was the bookies' early favourite to take over at St Mary's, following Wednesday night's sacking of Claude Puel.

We understand Tuchel has not ruled out a move to the Premier League, but the role at Southampton does not appeal to him.

Tuchel is known to want to continue managing a team in the Champions League.

Tuchel's departure from Dortmund came just three days after he led them to a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal final. They also finished third in the Bundesliga.
