Manchester United have finally got the man to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in Jose Mourinho, according to Ricardo Carvalho.

Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal's successor in May and Sky sources understand Sweden forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will become his first signing since taking charge at United

United are also in talks with Villarreal over a deal for Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly, according to Sky sources, with Mourinho keen to shape his squad quickly ahead of pre-season.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea last December after overseeing the Blues' worst start to a Premier League season, just months after leading them to the title.

But Carvalho, who played under Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid, is convinced United have got the best possible man for the job and believes his Portuguese counterpart will win the Premier League title within two years.

"Jose will have something to prove after what happened at Chelsea. He is a coach who always wants to improve and wants to do more and better," he told the Sun on Sunday

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a huge star, but what would he add on the pitch?

"I think he will make Manchester United better and in the next two years they will be champions. United have struggled since [Sir Alex] Ferguson retired but Jose can be the one to replace him. He will not worry what went before. He will want to make his own success.

"Jose deserves to be at the biggest clubs because he is one of the top coaches. He has the quality to make United win again.

"He is a great coach and now he is in a great club - United are one of the biggest in the world. I have no doubt that he can bring trophies back to United again and that he will make them champions.

Ryan Giggs will leave Man Utd this summer, according to Sky sources…

"I don't know if it will be in the first year, the second year or the third, but Mourinho will win the title again. My prediction is that it will be in the second year."

Carvalho also admitted that he did not want to see his former boss take over at United, citing his association with Chelsea as the reason.

"I played for Chelsea and still have pride in the club, so I didn't want to see Jose at United. No one at Chelsea did," he added.

"He is our Special One and I'm sure he will always have pride in Chelsea. But, of course, he is a professional coach and has to go to work.

"United are perfect for him because they are a big club with a great history and Jose will like to make his own history."
