Which are the most credible Arsenal transfer rumours right now?

Sky Sports has teamed up with Football Whispers to bring you the hottest transfer talk of the moment, as Arsene Wenger looks to kickstart their Premier League season.

Football Whispers have developed a unique algorithm to take all of the transfer rumours from across the globe and calculate the likelihood of them happening.

They track transfer stories and give them a score out of 5.0, with the hottest Whispers closest to 5.0.

The top three are:

1. Jonny Evans (West Brom) - 4.1

As Arsenal continue their hunt for a defender, they have been linked with West Brom's Jonny Evans.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis said on Friday: "If it does happen, you need to make sure you know where your replacements are.

"If Arsenal come in for Jonny, if we do any business, we'll do it between the clubs. I wouldn't talk here about doing a deal with Arsenal or anybody else."

Reports in Tuesday's national newspapers say West Brom have put a £25m price tag on Evans amid interest from the Gunners.

2. Shkodran Mustafi (Valencia) - 4.0

Are Arsenal closing in on the signing of Shkodran Mustafi? Speaking to French TV station SFR Sport, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed negotiations for the Germany international were ongoing.

"Mustafi? We hope it will be done," he said. "He is one of a number of players we are looking at. Negotiations are ongoing."

However, Valencia manager Pako Ayestaran insists Shkodran Mustafi will not be sold in this transfer window.

Ayestaran said after Valencia's 4-2 defeat by Las Palmas on Monday night: "Mustafi is not for sale and will not be leaving the club."

Mustafi was named on the bench for the match, Valencia's first this season, but came on in the second half with his side 3-1 down.

Guillem Balague, Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, insists the only way Mustafi will leave Valencia is if the £43.1m clause is met.

"The coaching staff at Valencia think Mustafi will not go, and this is the same message being made by Valencia. They insist the only way Mustafi will be allowed to leave is if Arsenal trigger his €50m (£43.1m) buy-out clause, which I think everybody will agree is too much money for him."

3. Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon) - 3.9

As the clock counts down until the end of the transfer window, Arsenal continue to be linked with Lacazette.

Last month, they saw a bid in the region of £30m rejected by the Ligue 1 club, although Sky sources understand the Gunners remain interested.

Arsenal's inability to find the net in Saturday's goalless draw at Leicester only fuelled the debate that reinforcements are needed up front. Will Lacazette be the man Arsene Wenger turns to?
