Rémi Garde confirms Jack Grealish will not be involved in Aston Villa's match against Watford, and says the 20-year-old acted unprofessionally

Remi Garde has confirmed Jack Grealish will not be involved in Aston Villa's match against Watford following a breach of club discipline.

The 20-year-old was demoted to the club's development squad indefinitely on Monday after he was pictured in a national newspaper on two nights out at the weekend.

Grealish was captured at a Manchester nightclub just hours after Villa's 4-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park then again at a Birmingham venue the following evening.

That came after he was fined by the club earlier this year having been pictured inhaling nitrous oxide in a hotel room.

Pictures emerged on Tuesday of Grealish's friends appearing to inhale the gas in his presence at the weekend.

Garde told reporters at a press conference on Thursday morning Grealish's conduct was "not professional or expected".

Although it is understood the youngster has not been fined for his behaviour, it remains to be seen when he will make a first team return.

Grealish did not travel with the team back from Merseyside at the weekend but Garde is adamant he does not have a problem with that.

The Villa boss said: "It's not unusual for a player to ask to stay in the city of the team you have played in.

Paul Lambert says Jack Grealish must learn to be a footballer off the pitch as well as on it.

"It's not a problem for me. It can happen once or twice during a season. The problem for me was not him being on the bus.

"English footballers have become more professional but you see young footballers wanting to live life all over, we forget in their brain they are 20."

"(Grealish's actions) are not of the professional (standard) that I expect from my players. That's why Jack is training in the U21 team."
