Emilio Nsue's 54th-minute strike at the Riverside, tapping in from close range from Adam Forshaw's low cross, proved enough to seal the win that puts Boro back on top of the standings on goal difference after Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers in Sky Sports' latest 10 in 10 game.

Burnley remain in the play-off places but only by two points after Cardiff City closed the gap on the top six with a thrilling 3-2 win at home to Brentford.

The Bluebirds took a 2-0 first-half lead after Tony Watt and Kenwyne Jones both found the net within 34 minutes, but the Bees hit back on the hour-mark through captain Jake Bidwell's first ever goal for the club.

Ipswich also remain in the play-off places after submitting Fulham to another home defeat, this time 2-1, with goals from Freddie Sears and Brett Pitman making Ross McCormack's strike irrelevant.
