Slavisa Jokanovic branded Fulham's performance in the 3-0 rout at the hands of neighbours Brentford as "embarrassing".
The Cottagers boss did not mince his words after seeing Sam Saunders and Scott Hogan's brace tear his side apart in a first-half blitz.
"It was embarrassing in first 45 minutes. We played without any character and desire. We are ashamed of that performance," he said.
"We've promised things this season and not delivered them, but I know how to fix this problem and the club knows how to fix this problem."
He admitted his honeymoon period with the Fulham fans was over after they booed their side off at the break with taunts of "you're not fit to wear the shirt".
He said: "The honeymoon is over, but the cause of this was not my fault. It was the fault of other people, but in the summer I know what the problem is and I am ready to fix it and show ambition."
He blamed his side's leaky defence for their first-half woes, which saw the rampant Bees storm into an unassailable lead to the delight of most in the 12,300 Griffin Park crowd.
Jokanovic added: "We need more competition at the back because the defence don't give us any insurance. In the second half we were not solid enough and strong enough at the back and it's been like that all season."
Brentford were missing four first-team regulars and were without injured skipper Jake Bidwell, replaced by rookie left-back Tom Field for his debut.
But they still had far too much for a lethargic Fulham side and romped into a two-goal lead inside the first seven minutes.
Saunders struck first with a cheeky lob before Hogan made it two when he raced clear of a static Cottagers defence to rifle a shot into the far corner.
The striker, who has scored five in 93 minutes since his return from a two-year injury lay-off, made it three with a stinging volley before being substituted by Bees boss Dean Smith at the break.
"He's not talking to me at the moment because I took him off but he was sitting there with ice all over his body so we have to go softly softly with him," he said.
"We have to manage him carefully with the medical team, but if he stays fit then we will see much more of him next season because he's a natural goalscorer. He's put himself in a difficult position with the supporters in terms of expectation now."
Smith praised the role of his foreign imports in the derby win, with Konstantin Kerschbaumer, Andy Gogia and Yann Barbet all impressive.
He said: "It's not an easy league to come into. You need steel, physicality, height, power and speed but they are starting to get minutes now and you can see the difference in them.
"We will finish in the top 11 but in the summer I'm sure we will strengthen further, so the competition will be even more intense but that is what you need to keep progressing as a club."
