Paul Bracewell has left his role as assistant manager of Sunderland with immediate effect.
The 54-year-old, who had three spells with the Black Cats as a player, returned to the club in a coaching capacity in 2013, taking up a role within the academy.
Bracewell was promoted to the first-team coaching staff in 2015, becoming assistant to then-manager Dick Advocaat.
He also served in that role under Sam Allardyce and David Moyes.
"It has been a great honour to serve Sunderland AFC as a player, coach and assistant manager for a combined total of 10 years," Bracewell told the club's website.
"I would like to thank the club and its staff, but also the supporters for the great backing I have received throughout my Sunderland career.
"I now look forward to the next challenge in my football career."
Chief executive Martin Bain added: "We would like to thank Paul for his hard work and dedication during his time with the club and wish him the very best in his future endeavours."
Sunderland have been without a manager since Moyes resigned from his position in May following the club's relegation from the Premier League.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes rejected the opportunity to take over at the Stadium of Light on Thursday after a compensation package had been agreed between the clubs.
