Sky Bet Championship round-up: Brighton beat Hull to stay top

Brighton remain top of the Sky Bet Championship following a 1-0 victory over Hull City.

The Seagulls took the lead at the Amex Stadium after just five minutes when Tomer Hemed netted from close range after some good work from Sam Baldock and that goal would prove to be enough for Chris Hughton's side who now move four points clear at the top of the table.

Highlights of Brighton's 1-0 win over Hull in the Sky Bet Championship.

Cardiff maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory at home to Huddersfield and have now moved up to second place.

The Bluebirds thought they had taken the lead late in the first half only to see the linesman's flag raised for offside after Anthony Pilkington had slotted home.

Pilkington did finally get his name on the scoresheet after the break - finishing well from inside the box and Joe Mason secured all three points with 10 minutes to go.

Highlights of Cardiff's 2-0 win over Huddersfield in the Sky Bet Championship.

Substitute Nelson Oliveira scored a late winner on his debut as Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road in the day's early kick-off.

Charlie Austin put the hosts ahead midway through the second half but the game was turned on its head after Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green was sent off for bringing down Chris O'Grady. Henri Lansbury scored the resulting spot-kick before Oliveira stole all three points for the away side with a late deflected effort.

Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between QPR and Nottingham Forest.

Burnley made it three wins in a row with a 3-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday at Turf Moor.

The Clarets took a seventh-minute lead when David Jones curled in a superb free-kick from just outside the box. The lead would last just 10 minutes, however, as a powerful Atdhe Nuhiu headed goal levelled the scores for Wednesday.

The hosts retook the lead with 10 minutes to go - Matt Taylor ghosting in at the far post to volley in before Andre Gray sealed an impressive win for the Lancashire club in injury-time.

Highlights of Burnley's 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship.

Birmingham moved up to fourth in the division with a 4-2 win at home to Bristol City, courtesy of a Clayton Donaldson hat-trick.

The 31-year-old striker put the Blues ahead at St Andrews with a simple tap-in in the 10th minute. He then grabbed his second of the game 10 minutes later via a deflected shot from eight yards out. 

The Robins hit back 10 minutes before the break when Aaron Wilbraham turned in a low Luke Ayling cross, but Birmingham restored their lead shortly before half-time when the referee awarded theme a debteable penalty, from which Donaldson made no mistake.

The visitors responded for a second time through a Jonathon Kodija volley before Jonathan Grounds finally settled the game with a late header.

Highlights of Birmingham's 4-2 win over Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Derby secured their first win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Preston at Deepdale.

Chris Martin scored his third goal of the campaign to put the Rams ahead with a smart finish in the 23rd minute. They then doubled their lead 10 minutes before the break with Martin scoring once again, this time direct from a free-kick after Johnny Russell was fouled at the edge of the box.  

Preston pulled a goal back deep into injury-time following a lengthy injury delay through Daniel Johnson but Paul Clement's side held on to secure a crucial three points.

Rotherham stay rooted to the foot of the table after being held to a 1-1 draw at Charlton.

The Millers went ahead late in the first half - youngster Farrend Rawson finding the net from close range to score his first senior career goal, but the Addicks equalised midway through the second after Patrick Bauer tapped in a corner from inside the six yard box.

Highlights of Charlton's 1-1 draw with Rotherham in the Sky Bet Championship.

Middlesbrough moved into third place with a 2-0 win over MK Dons at the Riverside.

Boro dominated possession in the first half but it was Karl Robinson's side who came closest to breaking the deadlock - Simon Church hitting the inside of the post midway through the second half.

Stewart Downing eventually opened the scoring on 70 with a superb curled effort in the bottom right-hand corner and David Nugent then doubled the home side's lead on 81 with a smart finish to score his first goal back in the Championship.

Highlights of Middlesbrough's 2-0 win over MK Dons in the Sky Bet Championship.

Bolton secured their first win of the campaign by beating Wolves 2-1 at the Macron Stadium. 

The home side started the game well and took a deserved lead through the impressive Liam Feeney, who turned smartly in the box to volley past Emiliano Martinez. Zach Clough then scored his first goal of the season by calmly stroking in a penalty on the stroke of half-time to double the home side's advantage.

Benik Afobe cut Bolton's lead in half from the penalty spot with 20 minutes to go after Adam Le Fondre was pulled to the ground. However, it proved too little too late as Neil Lennon's side climb out of the relegation places.

Leeds and Brentford shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

Marco Djuricin opened the scoring for Brentford with his first goal for the club since joining on loan from Red Bull Salzburg last month before Mirco Antenucci dragged Leeds back level with a magnificent curled strike in the 76th minute.
