Birmingham midfielder Andrew Shinnie is set to join Scottish Championship side Hibernian on a season-long loan.

The former Rangers youth player will travel to Edinburgh on Wednesday to finalise the deal, which will see him return to Scottish football for the first time in three years.

Shinnie moved to Birmingham in the summer of 2013 after impressing at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and has made 73 appearances for the Midlands side, scoring six goals.

Although he was a regular in their team in the first half of last season, he was allowed to leave for a loan at Rotherham in January.

Shinnie played just three games while at the New York Stadium, featuring in a trio of defeats to Charlton, Bolton and Burnley.
