Emmanuel Adebayor believes he can still cut it in the Premier League because he has been "blessed with golden genes".
The 32-year-old, whose Togo side crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
But the former Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City frontman reckons he has the physical and mental make-up to compete in England's top flight again, despite his advancing years.
"I am confident that I can still play at that level," he told FIFA's official website. "I am blessed with golden genes. Physically, I would certainly be able to handle the pressure.
"I am the one who makes jokes when it is necessary, but I can also put my foot down if serious work is required.
"My father taught me to always say what I think. At times, that can lead to problems - but I always sleep well."
A 3-1 defeat to DR Congo ended Togo's tournament and, speaking after the game, Adebayor insisted his focus would turn to finding a new employer - even if he conceded he might struggle for Premier League suitors.
"Now we are out I am just going home and I'll call my manager and see if there are some clubs that are interested in me," he told reporters in Gabon.
"Let's take it step by step and see how it goes. You know how much I love the Premier League even though I am not the most loved player in England. I have done it for the last 10 years in the Premier League."
Adebayor managed just one goal in a six-month stint at Crystal Palace before being released in June.
His most prolific Premier League spell came at Arsenal, where he scored almost 50 goals between 2006 and 2009.
