Bristol City midfielder Bobby Reid has signed a new two-year contract with the Sky Bet Championship club.

Reid, 23, was set to be out of contract this summer until the club took up the option of a further year in April. The new deal means he will stay at Ashton Gate until at least the summer of 2018.

Bristol-born Reid said: "I'm delighted. This club is going places and I want to be part of that.

"You only have to look at the stadium. The place has been transformed and hopefully we have a big season ahead of us."

Reid made 30 appearances for the Robins last season, with most of those coming after manager Lee Johnson had taken charge in February.

Johnson, who signed Reid on loan when head coach at Oldham in 2013, added: "I have huge belief in him as a player and believe he has the potential to play as high as he wants.
