Swansea manager Alan Curtis says his players were angry following their midweek home defeat to fellow strugglers Sunderland.

Wednesday's 4-2 loss at the Liberty Stadium left the Swans just a single point above the Premier League relegation zone.

The Welsh club finished the game with 10 men, but two days later the Football Association rescinded defender Kyle Naughton's red card - along with his three-match ban.

In addition to Naughton's unjust first-half dismissal, two of Jermain Defoe's three goals appeared to be marginally offside, leaving Swansea players and fans to feel rather unhappy following the game.

But Curtis insists his squad have the stomach for the battles ahead over the next few months, saying: "There was a bit of anger if anything after Wednesday.

"The players were angry at what had happened and I would hope they would want to right the wrongs after a couple of decisions went against them.

"I hope there will be no long-term affect and certainly I don't sense anything at the moment. I don't think there will be a negative reaction to the Sunderland game."

Swansea entertain Watford on Monday and Curtis added: "I've spoken before about the resilience of the modern-day player and I think they have to be like that because there are so many setbacks they have to contend with.

"They'll be fine. They are quite a strong group anyway and now we're looking to the leaders, the likes of Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor.

"They are the type of people that will come forward for us."
