Port Vale's on-loan winger Matty Kennedy has been recalled by Cardiff.

After impressing on an initial one-month loan in January, Kennedy's deal was extended until April 26.

But after only featuring on the bench for Vale in recent weeks, Cardiff manager Russell Slade has now recalled him.

Vale boss Rob Page told the club's official website: "I think Matty came in and did really well at the start.

"I threw him in at the deep end at Doncaster Rovers away and I think he was excellent.

"Then he played Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday and inevitably it was going to catch up with him and that's what happened.

"To go from under-21s football to playing like that week in, week out, two games a week at League One level caught up with him.

"His form dipped a little bit and Cardiff have decided to call him back because he's not playing so we've got to respect that and we wish him all the best for the future."
