Highlights of Huddersfield's 2-1 win over Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship

David Wagner praised Nahki Wells for his workrate as Huddersfield moved back into the Sky Bet Championship play-off positions with a 2-1 victory over Bristol City.

Wells scored his first goal since October to secure Town's first win in six matches.

Elias Kachunga gave Huddersfield an early lead before Tammy Abraham levelled just after the half-hour.

Wells cashed in on a mistake by City goalkeeper Frank Fielding to clinch Huddersfield's second win in nine matches.

Head coach Wagner was delighted with the victory and hailed Wells' performance.

He said: "I am very happy for Nahki. The goal came from a mistake by the goalkeeper but Nahki chased down the keeper and deserved that.

"Nahki works very hard and he had a role in the first goal when he made a run to open up the space for Elias."

Wagner said Town's overall performance was "fantastic" and added: "The players performed very well against a very hard opponent and we are very happy and proud.

"This was a massively huge win for us. Twenty games have gone and we have 10 wins, which is fantastic. But we can only celebrate for a few minutes before we focus on the next game."

Fielding was fortunate not to be sent off with the scores level at 1-1 when he handled the ball outside the penalty area.

Referee Keith Stroud consulted his assistant and gave a yellow card but Wagner said: "It was a clear red card but we have to accept the referee's decision."

There were other controversial calls by Stroud which angered the home crowd but Wagner said: "I don't want to waste my energy on the referee.

"We know that the 50-50 decisions have not been going for us in recent weeks but we have to accept it and go forward. Hopefully we'll be more happy with the decisions in the future."

Kachunga headed home the opening goal in the 10th minute and Abraham, prolific earlier in the season, slotted the equaliser.

Town won the contest in the 59th minute when Fielding miscontrolled Korey Smith's backpass and Wells stole the ball and took it round the keeper to score.

City head coach Lee Johnson refused to blame his goalkeeper and said: "He has kept us in games and won us games.

"It was a mistake but I don't want to dwell on it. We have to go into the next game on Tuesday and get the team enthused to give ourselves the best chance of a win.

"We dust ourselves off and go again."

On the game, Johnson said: "I have no complaints about the result. I felt we were in the game right into the second half.

"It hurts when you lose and we have lost too many away from home this season. The atmosphere is against you but then that's the case in every away game.

"It is disappointing and frustrating and we just didn't play our game. We have to be better."
