Eddie Howe says his Bournemouth side will have to better their match-winning display against Chelsea if they are to beat Manchester United on Saturday Night Football.

The Cherries boss guided his side to a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge last weekend and will look to repeat the feat live on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday.

Howe also dismissed the notion that Louis van Gaal's side are in crisis following their Champions League exit at the hands of Wolfsburg in midweek.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes criticism of United has been over the top and has challenged his players to beat Louis van Gaal's side.

"We know we can do it; it is in our hands," Howe said. "It is down to us and our performance levels, which were extremely high last week, but we are probably going to need to surpass that this week to have any chance of winning this game.

"Everything in the modern day is dramatized and overhyped. Manchester United are fourth in league, very close to the top of the division, for me there is no great panic.

"They are Manchester United and they would consider themselves in a very good position to win the league this season.

"We know how difficult this game is going to be, we know the levels we have to get to to compete. All I would say is if we can match those levels again it is in our hands as to what happens."

Despite their premature exit from Europe's top competition, Howe said he saw a real threat about United in their 3-2 defeat to the German side on Tuesday.

"I watched the game from a scouting perspective - a tactical viewpoint," he said. "But I think they looked a threat Manchester United, I thought it was one of those games that could have gone either way.

"I certainly think they created a lot of goalscoring opportunities so we are aware of their threats and we know what we have to do."
