Rangers are set to table a third offer for St Johnstone forward Michael O'Halloran, according to Sky sources.
O'Halloran, the subject of two unsuccessful bids from Ibrox boss Mark Warburton last week, was left out of the Saints' goalless draw with Hamilton on Saturday with manager Tommy Wright claiming he was 'not right mentally'.
The Northern Irishman has told Warburton, a former city trader, to recognise the 'simple economics' that must be met if they are serious about tempting the 25-year-old away from McDiarmid Park.
O'Halloran, who began his career in the youth set-up at Celtic, has scored twice in the Scottish Premiership this season and twice in the League Cup, including one against Rangers in Saints' 3-1 victory at Ibrox last September.
Speaking after the Accies game, Wright said: "It is great he is being linked with Rangers because they are a massive club. There have been two bids and both have been knocked back.
"It is simple economics as well and Mark Warburton has a business background. He knows that if you go into a shop and want to buy something you have to pay the price. As far as I'm aware there has not been a third bid so Michael is still our player. He is contracted to us for the next 18 months."
Now Sky Sports understands a third bid will be tabled some time this week for Glasgow-born O'Halloran, who has represented Scotland at U17, U19 and U21 level.
