After scoring for a 48th match in a row in Sunday night's 2-1 win against Real Betis, we look at the numbers behind Real Madrid's record-breaking run.
Despite falling behind to Keylor Navas' comical own goal, Zinedine Zidane's side recovered through strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and captain Sergio Ramos to leapfrog Barcelona and move back to the top of La Liga.
In the process, Madrid surpassed Benfica's record for a major European league, set more than half a century ago, by scoring in a 48th consecutive game in all competitions.
Lajos Czeizler and Elek Schwartz's team scored in 47 straight encounters between December 1963 and January 1965, while Real's record-breaking sequence began when Gareth Bale netted with an 80th-minute header in a 1-0 win at Real Sociedad in La Liga last April.
That was followed by a vital 1-0 victory over Man City that saw Los Blancos through to the Champions League final. City were the last team to stop Real from scoring in their goalless semi-final first-leg clash at the Etihad on April 26.
The most important of the 130 goals Madrid have scored in this run, however, came from their skipper Ramos, whose controversial 15th-minute strike gave his side the lead against Atletico Madrid in last May's Champions League final in Milan.
And after the contest ended 1-1 following extra time, Real went on to lift Europe's premier club competition for an 11th time by beating their city rivals 5-3 on penalties.
The Spanish giants have also won two other trophies during this run, August's UEFA Super Cup thanks to a 3-2 victory over Europa League winners Sevilla and December's FIFA World Club Cup following a 4-2 win against Kashima Antlers.
Earlier in Decemeber, though, Madrid's goalscoring sequence very nearly came to an end on game No 27 at the Nou Camp, with the visitors having drawn a blank as El Clasico entered stoppage time.
However, up popped that man Ramos again to head home a last-gasp equaliser and extend Real's then unbeaten run to 33 matches in the process, but that particular run came to an end after a 2-1 loss at Sevilla in January.
Two more reverses have since followed, one in the league and one to end the club's participation in the Copa del Rey, although Madrid have not actually lost a game and failed to score since a 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarter-finals last April.
All the while, however, Los Blancos have carried on scoring as they close in on a first La Liga title for five years and perhaps fittingly it was their all-time record scorer, Ronaldo, who continued their streak against Betis with his 30th goal during this incredible run.
Now all eyes will be on the San Mames on Saturday as Ronaldo and co look to score for a 49th successive encounter in their La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao.
