Monaco have signed Poland centre-back Kamil Glik on a four-year deal from Torino, the clubs have confirmed.

Glik was one of stars of Poland's Euro 2016 campaign, a rock-solid, no nonsense defender who also scored penalties in the shoot-outs with Switzerland and Portugal.

He had been linked in the Italian press with a move to Leicester, Tottenham and Newcastle United.

Capped 46 times by his country, he played in all five games as Poland reached their first European Championship quarter-finals, where they lost in the shoot-out with Portugal.

The 28-year-old joined Torino in 2011 and was made captain of the side two years later. Last season, he made 33 appearances in the Serie A as the club finished 12th in Serie A.

"His power, his charisma and his defensive attitudes, which he once again demonstrated during Euro 2016, will be a great addition to the team," said Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.

"Kamil, whom we've been monitoring for quite a while, represents the perfect profile of an experienced central defender that we were looking for."
