He was part of the exchange deal that saw Jermain Defoe return to the Premier League in January 2015 and has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in the 2016 season overall, earning a nomination for the US Soccer Male Player of the Year 2016.

The striker is currently making history as the first player in MLS history to score in five straight play-off games - doing so in each meeting so far - as well as notching up four assists for his Toronto team-mates.

Nicolas Lodeiro

On Saturday night a new MLS champion will be crowned. We preview Toronto’s clash with Seattle, as both sides go for their first championship

A good friend and Uruguay team-mate of Luis Suarez, he is likely to be most familiar to European football fans for his time at Ajax alongside the Barcelona star and featuring for his country in four major competitions.

He made history at the 2010 World Cup as the first player to be sent off at the tournament during the Group A fixture against France, coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute and given his matching orders for a second yellow in the 81st. Lodeiro also started against England during the group stages at the 2014 World Cup.

Sebastian Giovinco

One of the stars of the MLS, Toronto forward Giovinco has carried on his fine form from his breakout 2015 campaign where he broke the league's record for most combined goals and assists in a season and picked up the Golden Boot, Newcomer of the Year and MVP awards.

The Italy international came through the youth ranks at Juventus and made 93 appearances in nine years with the club - sandwiched around loan spells with Empoli and Parma - before moving to the MLS in January 2015.

This term, he netted 17 times in 28 regular season games with four goals in five play-off appearances including a hat-trick against Patrick Vieria's New York City FC last month.

Michael Bradley

Another familiar name, former Aston Villa loanee Bradley is a regular for the USA international team and the son of Swansea City manager Bob Bradley.

The club captain has been the ultimate 'midfield general' since arriving from Serie A side Roma in January 2014, and has now guided the team to a second successive play-off appearance as well as helping Toronto to be the first ever Canadian team to feature in a MLS Cup final.

Bradley featured in 24 of the 34 regular season games and has so far played in all five play-off fixtures - scoring twice across all games - and is also in the running for the US Soccer Male Player of the Year alongside team-mate Altidore.

Jordan Morris

At just 22, Seattle-born Morris is already making waves in his first full season with the Sounders, having come through the club's youth ranks, and is regarded as one of the hottest future prospects in the MLS.

He decided to stick with the club after a brief flirtation with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, and scored in both play-off semi-finals against Colorado Rapids to help send his side into their first MLS Cup final.

In August 2014, he became the first player still at college to be called up to the USA international side in 15 years and netted his first goal in a friendly against Mexico in April 2015

Sounders forward Clint Dempsey will be sidelined for the final after being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, but did contribute to the play-off push with eight goals in 17 regular season games. Keep an eye out for a John Terry-esque appearance should they lift the trophy.

Fellow team-mate and goalkeeper Stefan Frei also returns to the club where he made his start with Stockport-born Tyrone Mears - who has played for the likes of Preston, Burnley and Bolton - also part of the squad.

Toronto may be featuring in their first final, but they have MLS Cup-winning pedigree in their squad. Midfielder Will Johnson has previously won the title on two occasions - including last season with Portland Timbers - and defender Drew Moor was a final winner in 2010 with Colorado Rapids.
