The January transfer window did not close that long ago but Europe's biggest clubs are already plotting their summer moves with a World Cup to negotiate around.

France

Chelsea transfer target Robert Lewandowski, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid to replace Karim Benzema, has been lined up by Paris Saint-Germain to succeed Edinson Cavani. The Ligue 1 leaders believe the Poland international is more clinical and would improve their chances of going far in the Champions League. (Le10Sport)

Thiago Motta is reconsidering his future at PSG. It appeared the 35-year-old Brazilian-born Italy international would call time on his career at the end of the season but he could not be set to play on for another season in Paris. (L'Equipe)

Spain

Michael Laudrup was a leading contender to replace Luis Enrique in the Barcelona dugout last summer. According to his agent, Bayram Tutumlu, the former Swansea City manager was the preference of president Josep Maria Bartomeu: "In May, Bartomeu told me that Laudrup was one of his favourites to replace Luis Enrique." Real Madrid are doing all they can to sign Neymar when the season comes to an end and are putting the pieces into place behind the scenes. Club president Florentino Perez met with Neymar Snr again this week in an attempt to thrash out a deal to bring the world's most expensive player to the Santiago Bernabeu. (Marca)

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal was asked who out of Antoine Griezmann or Neymar he would prefer to be playing alongside. The Spain international opted for the Brazilian: "Difficult, as he has made me suffer, I would sign Neymar." He was the third player from Real to openly speak out about signing the former Barcelona forward in the past week after Casimiro and Sergio Ramos. (AS)

Spanish prosecutors are calling for former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who retired at the end of last season, to be jailed for eight and a half years for tax fraud. (El Mundo)

Germany

After Borussia Dortmund's elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Red Bull Salzburg, manager Peter Stoger criticised Mario Gotze for his performance in Austria. The interim BVB boss placed a lot of blame at the feet of the World Cup winner.

"We did not agree with Mario at all on what we expect. We wanted him to play balls from deep, to make passing angles for plays in behind. That really did not happen at all. He forced me into making that substitution. If he wasn't going to do what I asked then we have to try to give other guys a chance." (Kicker)

Rumoured Everton and Tottenham Hotspur target Mitchell Weiser could be heading to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. The versatile Hertha Berlin midfielder has a release clause of £11m (€12m) and would fit the transfer profile for Heiko Herrlich at the BayArena. (Kicker)

Italy

Juventus have held a meeting with Anthony Martial's agents to determine whether there's a chance the France forward would be tempted into moving to Turin. The Italian club are determined to sign Manchester United's 22-year-old striker, who isn't against leaving Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. Juventus are also interested in signing Jose Gimenez, who is also on Manchester United's radar. Those in charge of recruitment for the Serie A side were spotted with the defender's agent, Daniel Delgado. The Uruguay international, who has a £53m (€60m) release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract, is who Juventus want to fill the void left by Leonardo Bonucci's departure to AC Milan last summer. Napoli are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Pepe Reina set to move to AC Milan, but they are not interested in Bayer Leverkusen's Bernd Leno. They are, however, prepared to break the bank for Alisson, despite his links with Liverpool. (Sport Italia)
