A Jonathan Forte goal maintained new Notts County manager Keith Curle's 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win over Chesterfield.
In the first period Lee Hughes shot over the bar and then fired the ball across the area to namesake Jeff, but although the midfielder had two bites of the cherry both were saved by Tommy Lee. County continued to dominate for the rest of the half, with Alan Judge's daisy-cutter easily dived upon by Lee, while the Spireites failed to register a single shot against Stuart Nelson. However, the home keeper had to be alert two minutes after the break to deny substitute Jordan Bowery and Jack Lester. In the 80th minute, Neil Trotman's error saw the ball fall to on-loan striker Forte, and the Barbados international calmly slotted his shot into the far corner. Judge hit the underside of the bar in the final five minutes while Kieron Freeman headed off the line to secure the victory.
